Summary

Cashier responsibilities include receiving payments and issuing receipts, bagging packages (if applicable) and keeping track of all cash and credit transactions. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in a customer service position and good knowledge of how cash registers operate. You should also be available to take evening, weekend shifts, or graveyard shifts, occasionally. 

Job Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to

  • Manage transactions with customers using cash registers or POS
  • Greet customers when entering or leaving the store
  • Scan goods and ensure pricing is accurate
  • Collect payments whether in cash or credit/debit cards
  • Issue receipts, change, and refunds (if applicable, or refer customers to customer service counter)
  • Redeem stamps, coupons, or Donki app points, if applicable
  • Cross-sell products and introduce new ones
  • Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information
  • Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
  • Track transactions on balance sheets and report any discrepancies 
  • Bag items for customers
  • Handle merchandise returns and exchanges (if applicable), accordingly
  • Other duties, as assigned, to include light stocking, inventory or assisting other departments

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

A valid health certificate and Alcoholic and Beverage Control (ABC) License or ability to obtain a certification/license is required for this position.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Knowledgeable in use of computer software applications customarily used in the job function at an appropriate proficiency level.

  • Understands the importance of luxurious and customer service, teamwork, and enjoys working in a customer oriented and diverse environment
  • Excellent customer service. We deal with many people from with different ethnicities so we will need to have good people skills to be able to deal with employees and customers
  • Strong, effective communication and time management skills
