About this position:
Under the supervision and direction of the Medical Director provides quality care and anesthesia to patients in compliance with agency standards and protocols and current scientifically-based standards of care, and incorporates those functions into the overall operations of the agency.

 
In compliance with PPGNHAIK, independently administers safe anesthesia and/or analgesia for surgical procedures as well as pain management; delivers preoperative care and medications; works in accordance with PPGNHI protocols and training; demonstrates proficiency in conducting patient care in an electronic medical records (EMR) environment if required; contributes to the team effort of the health center and agency, thereby ensuring quality care and services for clients. 

This position is for our Central District Health Center and works 2-3 Thursdays per month.
Hourly rate is $125/hr. 

 What you’ll be doing: 
  •  Assembles necessary supplies and equipment for administering anesthesia or analgesia. Advises PPGNHI on necessary safety equipment.
  • Provides the patient with optimal pain relief before, during and after most surgical procedures
  • Reviews patient medical histories; ensures that patient receives acceptable and safe medications based on past experience and reactions. 
  • Examines patient for physical or medical conditions that would interfere with the practice of safe anesthesia in the PPGNHI health center. 
  • Delivers preoperative care and medications.
  • Prepares anesthesia and analgesia for administration to patient.
  • Administers anesthesia or analgesics according to standard community medical practices and using good clinical judgment.
  • Monitors patient’s response to anesthesia and analgesia to maintain patient safety. Directs recovery care related to anesthesia and analgesia until patient is discharged per PPGNHI protocols. 
  • Identifies clinical emergencies and institutes appropriate measures.
  • Maintains detailed records of all medications administered, and patient's response.
  • Provides confidential healthcare per PPGNHI and HIPPA protocols.
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standard; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following agency’s philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, and other governing agency regulations, and works with Health Center Managers in the maintenance of health center-based quality programs.
  • Consults appropriately with the Medical Director regarding any care outside of PPGNHI scope of practice.  
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with universal precautions, WISHA, CLIA, PPFA, and PPGNHI policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among the health care team by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods; serving as a clinical expert and resource in the health centers.  
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

You’ll need to have:
  • Education: MS in Nurse Anesthesia required.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience providing anesthesia preferred.
  • License: WA RN 
  • Certification: CRNA certification required

Proof of completed COVID-19 Vaccinations is required prior to starting employment with PPGNHAIK.
