Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette (PPCW) is recruiting for a Director of Clinical Practice to join our Patient Services Administration team!

About the Role: The Director of Clinical Practice ensures continual improvement of clinical standards and staff development through the practice and promotion of evidence-based care. This position provides direct patient care, designs and implements clinician training and ongoing professional development, and supports implementation of Patient Services initiatives and strategic plans.

Schedule Expectations: This is a full-time position, (40 hours/week), Monday - Friday. Schedule flexibility will be discussed in the interview process.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in reproductive health care and clinical practice as an Advanced Practice Clinician
  • Education commensurate with state licensure requirements for practice capacity as an Advanced Practice Clinician in (Oregon and/or Washington – both preferred)
  • National Certification or a current Medicare number
  • Eligible and able to pursue prescriptive authority and DEA registration
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Professional, positive attitude with proven ability to contribute effectively to highly functioning work teams
  • Demonstrated ability to provide consistent high quality and highly efficient care
  • Experience, knowledge, and understanding of the issues surrounding access, equity, diversity, inclusion, implicit bias, and institutional racism

Total Rewards: The full wage range for this position is $108,160 to $157,568 annually. At PPCW we’re proud to calculate a wage offer based on candidate experience, rather than negotiate an offer which leads to pay inequity. New hire wage placement typically does not exceed the midpoint of the wage range. Physical Requirements:

  • Constantly operates a computer or perform other repetitive tasks
  • Use various computer systems and applications (e.g., Outlook, Teams), including EHR
  • Communicate face to face, virtual meetings, and via telephone
  • Ability to travel to assigned health center(s) and attend in person meetings as requested
  • Move about inside the office or health center
  • Utilize required PPE
  • Collect specimens, prepare and administer medications, obtain vital signs and record medical information, observe and exchange accurate information, and conduct reproductive exams including IUD and implant insertion and removal
  • Perform CPR, operate oxygen equipment, operate ultrasound equipment
  • Move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Potential for exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous drugs and materials
  • Work a combination of in person and remotely as position requires
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends based on health center operating hours

Location: This position is hybrid/telework, meaning you will be working both remotely and in-person at a PPCW location and within the community and various settings. All PPCW employees must reside in Oregon or Washington. The onsite work location for this position is Flanagan Regional Service Center in Northeast Portland, OR, but this position will be required to visit all PPCW locations. 

Essential Functions:

 

Training and Staff Development

  • Develops and implements training plans for onboarding new clinicians
  • Designs and delivers training programs for clinicians and RNs, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality patient care
  • Works closely with the Associate Medical Director to carry out administrative and training tasks aimed at advancing the development of licensed staff
  • Partners with Patient Services leaders and other departments to ensure optimal service delivery and patient experience by reviewing and evaluating training materials, maintaining up-to-date policies and procedures, and providing clinical consultation, mentorship, and workflow support
  • Identifies and prioritizes changes in workflows and clinical care that offer opportunities for efficiency

Direct Patient Care

  • Works in health centers providing comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care services to all patients in accordance with evidence-based practice protocols and following Medical Standards & Guidelines
  • Provides direct training as needed

Compliance and Quality Management

  • Evaluates and improves clinical systems that maintain, and advance clinical performance, processes/systems, compliance, and patient satisfaction based on results of observations, audits, and other quality assessment tools
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of clinical policy, procedure, guidelines, and protocols that support staff in providing high-quality, evidence-based care that is aligned with regulatory and accreditation standards, best-practice guidelines, and which minimizes risk while promoting cost-effective care
  • Assists in preparation of scheduled and unscheduled audits including PPFA accreditation
  • Provides EHR clinical perspective while assisting with optimizations and upgrades as necessary

Leadership and Management

  • Participates in the performance evaluations of licensed staff, including annual review of clinical skills, audits of clinician and support staff charting, billing and coding, and coordination of special skills evaluations
  • In partnership with Health Center Managers, provides guidance, support and feedback to clinicians to achieve effective and efficient operations while fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, trust, and continuous improvement in the department
  • Assists in the coordination and facilitation of affiliate-wide and specialty clinician meetings
  • Coordinates student training opportunities for RN and NP students as requested
  • Role models and provides leadership in diversity, equity, and including plans
  • Serves as a role model to staff and peers in meeting standards for agency revenue, expense/margin, visit volumes, and quality health care
