Field Supervisor - Soccer

General Function:
Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the established policies and goals of the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas, the Building/Field Supervisor shall be responsible for monitoring all aspects of a Sports Program and procedures of the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 21 years of age.
- Minimum of one-year experience in a related field; YMCA experience preferred.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Demonstrates interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 required prior to first day of work.
- Complete and maintain required trainings to include but not limited to: New Employee Orientation (NEO), Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention (CAP), and Sexual Harassment upon hire and annually thereafter.
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check, sex offender registry check, and Child Protective Services check
Essential Functions
- Support the mission, vision and goals of the YMCA.
- Promote a professional work environment through character development by modeling the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- Lead in a manner that advances our cause to strengthen the foundations of community through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
- Supervise activities at site(s) and surrounding areas to ensure safety and welfare of users.
- Report and monitor all mechanical and equipment problems. Input maintenance requests in association maintenance software.
- Set up equipment, and returns equipment to storage. Ensure cleanliness and safety of facilities and equipment.
- Take the lead in problem solving building situations during the work shift.
- Enforces all rules, regulations and policies, maintains documentation and reports incidents and accidents.
- Maintain proper inventory of all sports equipment and return to YMCA once season is complete, if necessary.
- Lining and maintaining fields and insuring all equipment is safe.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the site before leaving each game or practice.
- Assist and evaluate all programs to determine participant needs and possible areas of improvement or growth.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Follow department association standards.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Wear staff uniform and name tag, or professional attire when appropriate.
- Act as a leader in emergency situations. Report any accidents or incidents according to Emergency Communication Action Plan.
- Ensure all members, guests, and program participants are in a safe environment and actively follow branch Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).
- Carry out other related duties as deemed necessary by the Program Supervisor and branch administration to ensure an excellent member experience.

- Ability to communicate and work with parents, coaches, and children.
- Ability to observe children and coach’s behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to assigned activities.
- Ability to reason and define difficult problems with limited direction as to means and results.
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and those situations requiring first aid.
- Physical strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of the program.
- Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
