Position Summary

Tends machines such as saws, draw benches, spinning machines, vapor de-greasers and furnaces that cut, stretch, shape, anneal and clean tubes by performing the following duties.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces.
  • Assists machine operators to set up machine, and stack, mark, pack, and transport finished work pieces.
  • Communicate to management and peers regarding quality, preventative maintenance, customer focus and equipment issues, concerns and improvement initiatives. 
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Initiatives and support a flexible team environment that best suits all PTC initiatives.
  • Assist with identifying and implementing process improvement.
  • Follow work instructions and procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, at times can be high.  Majority of work is performed inside (non-climate-controlled facility). 
  • Employees in this position are regularly required to walk, stand and use hands to finger, handle or feel. 
  • They are frequently required to reach with hands and arms. 
  • They are occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear and regularly required to lift 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. 
  • Safety glasses, hearing protection and other PPE are required in designated areas.
