Workforce Development Facilitator - Full Time

POSITION PURPOSE
The full-time Teen Workforce Development Facilitator will join the Greater Philadelphia YMCA’s Workforce Development Department to facilitate the Teen Workforce Development Program (YWDP). This role will involve supporting the development of teens' professional skills, including leadership, teamwork, communication, and career readiness. The facilitator will work closely with high school students, mentors, and community partners to provide career exposure, mentorship, and job opportunities. The role requires program facilitation, student engagement, and partnerships with school partners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program Facilitation:
- Facilitate weekly workforce development sessions focusing on social-emotional skills, career readiness, job skills, and professional development.
- Lead activities and workshops on communication skills, resume building, interview preparation, and networking strategies.
- Supervise and mentor teens in real-world work experiences, such as job shadowing, hands-on learning activities, summer jobs, and summer internships.
- Coordinate and oversee special events such as networking events and company tours.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure program activities align with teen development goals and educational curricula.
Student Engagement:
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for teens to develop professional and essential social-emotional skills.
- Act as a mentor and career coach, offering guidance on work-readiness, goal-setting, and professional etiquette.
- Ensure students participate in meaningful job shadowing, summer jobs/internships, and career workshops.
- Maintain consistent communication with participants and their families to ensure successful participation and completion of program milestones.
Curriculum and Program Development:
- Develop and implement a curriculum that includes practical job skills, career exploration, and financial literacy.
- Create opportunities for students to interact with industry professionals through guest speaker events and career panels.
- Ensure programming aligns with the YMCA’s values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Retention & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Implement strategies to retain diverse groups of teens for the program, ensuring equal access and opportunities.
- Engage with schools, community centers, and local organizations to promote the program.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with schools, employers, and community partners to increase participation and job placement opportunities.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of student participation, program outcomes, and feedback from students and parents.
- Assist with logistical arrangements for events, including registration, attendance, and follow-up communications.
- Support program evaluation efforts to assess the impact and effectiveness of the program.
ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of experience in youth development, workforce programming, or a related field.
- Strong organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to engage and relate to diverse groups of young people from various social and economic backgrounds.
- Proficiency with presentation technology, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to mentor, motivate, and engage teens in skill-building activities.
- Experience working in workforce development or career readiness programs is preferred.
- Knowledge of career pathways, job market trends, and employer needs.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required for special events and programming.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and emotional-intelligence skills.
- Preference for Spanish speakers, but not required
