With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. Pepper Construction provides clients the experience and resources of a national company, combined with the hands-on approach of a local company.

Superintendents are responsible for the overall direction of safe field operations, completion schedules, and labor budget outcomes of their construction projects.  He/She will direct and supervise all Pepper Construction field personnel and all subcontractors on the jobsite effectively to bring the project to a successful completion that delights the customer.  Our Superintendents establish a positive and effective work relationship with the project team members (Project Manager, Owners, Architects, and Subcontractors).

Site Management:

  • Model safe behavior and require it of all parties on the jobsite
  • Plan and schedule projects, including short-interval schedules
  • Schedule manpower and develop a working budget based on the estimates and project schedule
  • Control job progress by managing subcontractors, solving problems and conflicts, using proper documentation, quality control, and safety control techniques on the job
  • Control project costs by weekly evaluation of labor, material, and equipment costs, adjusting to ensure a fair profit while maximizing customer satisfaction foremost
  • Demonstrate superior construction process knowledge

People Management:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by recognizing and meeting the client's needs
  • Provide leadership through team building communications, motivation, confidence, good judgment, and listening to others
  • Manage and mentor other Pepper Construction employees
  • Ensure that all parties know the importance of safety on the project and educate all that need it

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or equivalent knowledge through construction supervision experience
  • Previous experience managing commercial construction projects $10M or larger
  • Flexibility to travel to Madison occasionally
