Position Summary:

The corporate controller is responsible for closely monitoring the company’s financial health.  The successful candidate will maintain, manage and analyze financial statements, payroll, budget, tax, and compliance issues.  By developing forecasting reports and financial statements, the corporate controller helps the organization make strategic decisions.   

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Prepare and review financial statements including income statements, balance sheets and cashflow statements.  
  • Ensure that financial reports are accurate, complete and in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.   
  • Develop, manage and monitor the company’s budget and financial forecasts.  
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to support strategic financial decisions. 
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and payroll. 
  • Ensure proper recording and classification of financial transactions. 
  • Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.  
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.  Implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.  
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal tax regulations.   
  • Prepare and file tax returns and work with auditors, and tax authorities as needed.  
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making. 
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for financial improvement. 
  • Manage cash flow and ensure the availability of funds for operational needs. 
  • Oversee investment and financing decisions. 
  • Coordinate and participate in financial audits. 
  • Manage and mitigate financial risks by identifying and addressing potential issues. 
  • Provide regular financial updates and reports to senior management and the Board.  Communicate financial performance, risks and opportunities.   
  • Contribute to the development of the company’s financial and strategic plans.  Collaborate with senior management to develop overall business strategy.  

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field.  A CPA is required. 
  • 10 + years of experience of relevant financial and accounting experience with a track record of increasing responsibility. 
  • 5+ years of experience in leading teams  
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and regulations 
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Dynamics) and Excel 
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail  
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
