The Financial Outreach Specialist will organize and participate in community events and projects centered on financial literacy and outreach. This position will lead the creation of financial wellness content and support Pelican's foundation through targeted outreach communications and fundraising events. They will help create and oversee the program, offering Pelican grants to members and assisting in federal grant data collection and reporting. The ideal candidate is a go-getter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for serving others. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, especially Excel, is a must! They should be comfortable working independently and as a contributing member of a team. Meeting deadlines and attention to detail are critical pieces of this position. Our Financial Outreach Specialist must embody Pelican’s Core Values and provide excellent service in all that they do.   

A Day in the Life of a Financial Outreach Specialist INCLUDES:

  • Creating and overseeing Pelican charitable grant programs for members, including program creation, grant awarding to members, and reporting.
  • Planning the facilitation of specialty events such as career days, program graduations, simulations, youth month, and school branch events with Pelican’s credit counselors.
  • Developing and implementing Financial Outreach content materials.
  • Creating content for financial wellness website updates and online modules.
  • Auditing and updating all presentation content and materials.

 

Financial Outreach Specialist Skills and qualifications include:

  • 2-year college degree in human services, communications, marketing, education, or related field.
    • Additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • 2 years of experience in financial education, community outreach, or communications to include non-profit program coordination and outreach, grant program tracking, and community program management.
  • Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and member service skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
