Job Summary:
The Maintenance Clerk will be responsible for supporting multiple grocery store locations by performing routine maintenance tasks, ensuring a clean and safe environment for customers and employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Routine Maintenance:
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, minor repairs, and equipment upkeep.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Inspection and Reporting:
- Conduct regular inspections of store facilities to identify maintenance needs.
- Report any significant maintenance issues or potential hazards to the Maintenance Manager promptly.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Order and restock supplies as needed to ensure that all stores have the necessary materials for routine upkeep.
- Support Services:
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for special events or promotions.
- Provide support for emergency maintenance situations as required.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license for insurability and travel between store sites.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and supply inventory.
- Update maintenance logs and submit reports to the Maintenance Manager regularly.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with store managers and staff to coordinate maintenance activities without disrupting store operations.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders by addressing maintenance concerns promptly and effectively.
Knowledge:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in maintenance, preferably in a retail or grocery store environment.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general repair skills.
- Proficiency in using basic maintenance tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and cleaning machines.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer service-oriented attitude.
- Effective communication with the Maintenance Manager and other team members to coordinate tasks and share important information about maintenance needs.
Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks across various store locations.
- Maintaining a professional demeanor when interacting with store staff and customers.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Climbing ladders or scaffolding to perform certain maintenance tasks at elevated heights.
- Ability to perform tasks that require fine motor skills, such as using tools or handling small objects.
Work Conditions:
- Flexible work hours.
- Availability between Monday to Sunday, minimum 8 hours a day, with occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
- Including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support store operations.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions and environments.
- Tasks may require working in cold storage areas, such as walk-in freezers and refrigerated sections.
- Primarily work within the grocery store environments, which include various sections such as the sales floor, backrooms, and exterior areas.
- Occasionally working in confined spaces or awkward positions to address maintenance issues.
- Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals and maintenance equipment. Proper safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used at all times.
