We are looking for a Behavior Support Consultant to join our Intensive Treatment Program! Our Intensive Treatment Education Program holds classrooms for students ages 5-21 in Lackawanna, NY (just 10 minutes south of Buffalo)! Our Intensive Treatment Education Program, operating two different schools, offers specialized educational services for students who are diagnosed with Autism or a Cognitive Disability paired with a mental health diagnosis. FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible to: Behavior Analyst of the education division
Job Summary:
The Behavior Support Consultant is responsible for team consultation, functional behavioral assessments, skill-based assessments (VB-MAPP), and functional analyses. Position is responsible for oversight in the development and implementation of individual student support plans and function-based behavior intervention plans.
Essential Job Duties:
- Works cooperatively with the classroom team in the collection of pertinent data to assist in the development of the individual student support plans, function-based behavior intervention plans, and IEP goals.
- Successful completion of functional behavioral assessments.
- Create and communicate behavioral reports within and outside of the program.
- Establish appropriate behavior goals within treatment plans (residential students only).
- Monitor behavior data.
- Train staff in the individual student support plans and function-based behavior intervention plans.
- Conduct new hire trainings.
- Conduct fidelity checks on behavior data, individual student support plans and function-based behavior intervention plans.
- Takes an active role in participating in and supporting a therapeutic and safe milieu. For example, providing crisis support, leading skill building groups, consulting classrooms on establishing structure and routine, etc.
- Knowledge of typical growth and development and the impact of the developmental disabilities on the individual and his/her family.
- Has basic knowledge of alternative communication devices.
- Attends and participates in classroom team meetings, treatment team meetings, CSE meetings, parent meetings and any other program meetings.
- Conducts all interactions within current best practices and ethical guidelines.
- Maintain client confidentiality within the regulations of HIPPA/FERPA and agency guidelines
- Train in best practices.
- Any other duty as assigned by your Supervisor.
Skills:
- Computer skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Minimum Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology or related field required
- Masters degree in Education, Psychology or related field preferred
Minimum Experience Required:
Minimum Experience Required: 1-2 years in the development and/or implementation of behavioral support plans with individuals with Autism and/or Intellectual Disability and mental health involvement using function-based strategies.
AND
Minimum Experience Required with a Bachelor’s degree 3-5 years working with individuals with Autism and/or Intellectual Disability and/or mental health involvement OR
Minimum Experience Required with a Master’s degree 1-2 years working with individuals with Autism and/or Intellectual Disability and/or mental health involvement
License/Registration/ Certifications Required:
- Valid NYS driver’s license
- Preferred Board Certified Behavior Analyst or Board Certified assistant Behavior Analyst
- Crisis curriculum Trainer within one year of employment

Physical Requirements:
The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.
