Processing Utility
Job Overview:
Utility Operator B performs various general and skilled labor functions supporting packaging, processing, warehousing, and plant aesthetics.
Responsibilities:
Performs packaging, processing, or warehousing duties such as:
Reclaiming damaged pallets, unloading, and loading trucks, assists with loading railcars, placing dunnage, etc., and/or;
Assisting with changing screens, cleaning elevators, cleaning out pipes, etc., and/ or;
Reclaiming damaged pallets, stacking, bailing, sewing, etc.
Operates equipment such as bobcat, front-end loader, sweeper, forklift, and road sweeper to move debris, waste receptacles, pallets, and other materials on the plant grounds.
Performs general clean-up using manual equipment such as shovels, brooms, mops, fire hoses and floor jacks.
Performs pre-operational equipment checks and monitors performance and gauges during operation.
Follows all safety rules and regulations.
Keeps all areas clean and free of clutter.
Must act in accordance with WE CARE and participate in improvement activities.
Other actions as needed to satisfy company goals, process, and procedures and to uphold values inherent to Oil-Dri.
Qualifications:
Education:
HS Diploma or equivalent required.
Must meet assessment requirements.
Must pass basic computer skills assessment. (Powders only)
Must be able to read, comprehend, and act on product specifications, SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures), PWI (Process Work Instructions), AIQ processes, and similar documents.
Skills & Abilities:
Must be able to effectively communicate with team leader, shipping/receiving clerks, scheduler, supervisors, customers, drivers, etc.
Must be able to sit on required equipment throughout shift.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently.
Bending reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently.
Good sight and hearing to avoid hazard.
Must be able to function in the required role while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including, but not limited to: Safety glasses, hearing protection, dust mask, protective coveralls, and pother as may be required by a hot/cold, dusty, loud industrial environment.
