Job Title: Powders Packaging Standards Specialist
Department: Packaging
Reports To: Packaging Front Line Supervisor
Job Summary:
- The Powders Packaging Standards Specialist position exists to focus on manufacturing performance to meet production and quality standards with emphasis on 1) equipment, and 2) operators.
Essential Functions:
- Understands internal customer needs and takes action to meet expectations.
- Understands expectations and how to modify processes to meet standards. Ensures standards are being met.
- Creates and audits centerlines.
- Conducts investigations/analysis of off-center equipment.
- Operates automated packaging, bulk-bagging, palletizing, or slurry equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment to identify root cause.
- Collect data for purpose of troubleshooting.
- Samples packaged product to verify it meets specifications.
- Periodically weighs product packages to ensure weight specifications are met.
- Inspects supplies such as bags, bulk bags and pallets to ensure useable quality and quantity levels are present and to inventory levels.
- Operate track mobile, bobcat, and forklift, to load trailers and or move material (only if assigned, properly trained, and training documented).
- Interacts with the computer systems for compliance, reporting, email, machine-setup and QMS requirements.
- Spot, set-up, load and move bulk trucks/ railcars (only if assigned, properly trained, and training documented).
- Performs area “workplace inspections” as required including environmental inspections.
- Provides feedback for adjustments.
- Make adjustment as simple and visual as possible to mitigate errors.
- Standardizes set-ups for individual equipment and, whenever possible, closely align set-ups on similar equipment.
- Ensures changes affecting Routings and Bill of Materials are properly communicated.
- Provides guidance to others in the work group including troubleshooting problems.
- Develops, or assists in developing, SOP’s, PWI’s and standard work instructions for the department.
- Ensures areas are clean and free of clutter and all safety and environmental rules, regulations, and precautions are followed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Assist or replace operators when necessary.
- Higher level of accountability.
Experience:
- Must meet the assessment requirements for this position and must pass Computer Literacy assessment.
- Strong maintenance aptitude and experience desirable.
- Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Must have attention to detail with no errors on day-to-day process’.
- Must be able to read, comprehend, and act on product specifications, SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures), PWI (Process Work Instructions), AIQ processes, equipment manuals, parts diagrams, schematic drawings and similar documents.
- Must have good interpersonal skills to provide leadership including good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to analyze data and assist team members to meet quality and production objectives.
- Must understand all safety requirements to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and precautions.
- Must possess a willingness to work on rotating shifts and assist operators to maintain an efficient process.
- Must have functional understanding of process controls.
- Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift.
- Must be able to lift 55 pounds frequently—duration of shift if necessary.
- Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently
- Must be able to climb ladders up to 110 feet.
- Must be able to talk and hear radio communications as well as phone.
- Must meet all physical requirements of the position.
Hourly Rate: $23.25
