HOURS and SCHEDULE:                     

Generally, Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm (minimum 37.5 hours within five (5) days per week); unless otherwise required or approved by management. Hybrid schedule available with up to 2-3 days telework.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a skilled and creative UI designer to join our dynamic team. As a Web (UI) Designer, you will be responsible for maintaining NCMEC’s web properties (NCMEC.org, NCMEC.org/NetSmartz, SafeToCompete.org, NetSmartzKids.org, etc.) through web design, content management system strategy, UI best practices, and component development.

This position is a key contributor to the organizational need for designing visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces for our web and mobile applications. You will collaborate closely with the art director, web content strategist, UX designers, product managers, and developers to ensure a seamless and engaging user experience across all digital platforms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain visual consistency in design across all platforms, maintaining the NCMEC’s branding guidelines and principles.
  • Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for web and mobile applications.
  • Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Collaborate with content strategists to incorporate user feedback and design improvements.
  • Create easy-to-use page layout templates for AEM authors to create new pages or sections.
  • Work with designers and developers to implement designs and ensure proper functionality
  • Conduct design reviews and iterate based on team and user feedback.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, design tools, and best practices to maintain high-quality design standards.
  • Stay informed about developments and design trends related to NCMEC’s Content Management System – Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas for new product features and design solutions.
  • Collaborate with designers to create engaging graphics and infographics for internal and external use for all websites, digital ads and social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with designers and animators to create print projects such as, but not limited to, corporate materials, age-appropriate prevention and educational materials, topic-based tip sheets, events and tradeshow signage, marketing ads, etc.
  • Create web content layout solutions to enhance the user experience for key audiences on NCMEC’s web platforms, including families, child-serving professionals, donors, volunteers and more.
  • Provide creative design solutions and support web updates for outreach, training, and events team
  • Plan and perform regular or quarterly UI testing to ensure the usability and effectiveness of components and layout solutions.
  • Perform quarterly ADA testing/scan to offer design solutions to ensure all websites and publications are 508 compliant.
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems using creative problem-solving (e.g. responsiveness).
  • Maintain a working knowledge of user personas, user stories, and storyboards.
  • Leverage knowledge of data analytics and visualization to enhance content development and marketing.
  • Support the development and maintenance of creative assets and layouts for NCMEC emails, newsletters, and campaigns.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design, Web Design, UI/UX or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in designing websites, and digital and traditional platforms.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a UI Designer or similar role in design.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, or similar software.
  • Strong technical skills in Adobe CC Library and Cloud workflow
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Must have the knowledge of design fundamentals such as typography, color, composition, layout and hierarchy
  • Experience designing for both web and mobile platforms (responsive design).
  • Knowledge of UI principles and best practices for user-centered design.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and product managers.
  • Excellent communication skills to present and explain design concepts effectively.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing previous UI design work and any foundation-related design work.
  • Ability to apply best practices and use creative problem-solving
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines and identify and work around obstacles
  •  Proven ability to collaborate with team members, colleagues, and external partners to ensure content aligns with the organization’s brand and design guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Asana
  • Experience with design systems and creating reusable design components.
  • Familiarity with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to better collaborate with developers.
  • Experience with user testing or usability research.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices.
