Under general direction the Stream Video Editor handles content creation, edits, and finish across the Company’s streaming and post production pipelines, including daily news shows, documentary series and live events. This role is responsible for tackling complex, long-lead projects and ensuring orderly deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Edit and finish Company’s productions, ranging from branded content, daily streaming content, digital and social projects as well as short and longform documentary projects.
- Collaborate with the creative and production teams to develop engaging short and long form video content that aligns with brand guidelines.
- Conceptualize and create broadcast and streaming video packages from start to finish. Develop concept, shoot content, edit project for delivery.
- Collaborate with other video editors in Studios’ to pick stills, video and music from Company’s royalty free libraries for all projects and to archive projects once finished.
- Create graphics packages for broadcast and streaming projects, branded content, digital, social and short documentary deliveries.
- Responsible for delivery of Company’s video productions to relevant platforms, including webpages, OTT, Broadcast or external partners and clients.
- Absorb and curate content and streaming news wheel in playout CMS, while strategizing with the programming team about all upcoming content.
- Enhance and prep captured video footage with graphics, effects, transitions, and sound design to ensure a professional final product.
Adapt and optimize video formats for various streaming platforms (e.g., YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo, Facebook Live, etc.). - Identify and present to the reporting manager new editing systems and techniques that enhance viewer engagement as well as increase efficiencies.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure all video content meets technical and creative standards.
- Assist with live stream troubleshooting and pre-recorded video integration when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in news, unscripted and/or television broadcasting or streaming fields
- Demonstrable experience in editing for social network and streaming platforms
- Strong and demonstrated portfolio with a track record delivering original content for broadcast and stream media, social media, branded content projects, including all web based established digital platforms.
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Premier and familiarity with elements of the Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Extensive knowledge in playout systems such as Zype, Ross, and/or similar systems
- Proficiency in cloud based MAM (media asset management) systems
- Strong understanding and experience in audio editing, mixing, sound design, color grading, and effects integration.
- Expert knowledge in creating motion graphics specific to live stream and streaming platforms
- Demonstrated ability to asses new technology trends and tools and provide recommendation to management
- A strong sense of the narrative mechanics of storytelling.
- Highly creative with technical expertise in video editing tools, a strong understanding of streaming platforms, and the ability to deliver polished, engaging content that aligns with the company’s brand and audience expectations.
- Foundational understanding of camera operation, lighting, and on-set production workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in film production, media studies, or related field
- Motion graphics skills with After Effects, and Animation knowledge
- Experience with Canon products
- Knowledge of Da Vinci Resolve

The pay scale the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting is $95,000 to $105,000 and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, experience, training, licenses, certifications, and other business or organizational needs. Compensation will be determined based on the above factors along with the requirements of the position. At the L.A. Times Studios, LLC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
