Owned and operated by the nonprofit Manned Space Flight Education Foundation, we are the Official Visitor Center of NASA Johnson Space Center and a Smithsonian affiliate.

We are currently seeking a full-time experienced Payroll Specialist to administer the payroll function at Space Center Houston. Responsibilities and qualifications are shown below:

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Weekly editing of time and attendance for employees.
  • Maintain AND track time and attendance reports.
  • Maintain accrual balances
  • Review and approve changes into the payroll side of the HRIS system including direct deposit information, tax deductions, tax information and benefit time.
  • Maintain and provide payroll reports to include 403(b) transmission, and other reports as needed.
  • Administer pay practices according to local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and administer all Payroll Corrections and supporting records.
  • Work with employees to resolve pay-related questions and issues.
  • Weekly tracking of all employee paychecks.
  • Provide back-up support for Accounts Payable function.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 3 years payroll or related experience/education, Ceridian Dayforce experience strongly preferred.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Payroll Professional strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer software required with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word for Windows, and Excel preferred.
  • Computer knowledge with automated timekeeping systems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise good judgement is required.
  • Good communication skills and strong interpersonal skills required.
