Community Enhancement Agent/Maintenance Worker

Summary
As part of the Transform Temple team, an Agent is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and attractive environment for the city. The team works collaboratively to ensure compliance with City codes regarding the elimination of tall grass and weeds, debris, and inoperable vehicles. The Agent also participates in special projects that contribute to the city’s beautification, better health, welfare, and harmony within the community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities by Crew Assignments
Mowing Crew – Abatement (1 vacancy)
Winter Work shift is 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

- Assists with the maintenance and moving of 175 properties within the City
- Operates equipment such as tractors, backhoes, and all types of mowing related equipment
- Mows assigned property; updates and maintains activity logs and work orders
- Performs daily maintenance checks on equipment
Maintenance Crew – Projects (2 vacancies / 1 for each shift)
Work shift is either 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. OR 12noon to 8:30 p.m.

- Performs maintenance activities in downtown Temple and other investment zones
- Performs ground maintenance; tasks may include cleaning and removal trash and debris from streets and alleys
- Performs general building maintenance; tasks may include light construction, painting, and power washing
- Delivers and monitors the tool trailer during neighborhood cleanups events, including inspecting and maintaining the equipment
- Installs and removes custom pole banners in assigned area
All Crew Members – Additional Duties and Responsibilities

- Performs ground maintenance; tasks may include cleaning and removal trash and debris from streets and alleys
- Performs general building maintenance; tasks may include light construction, painting, and power washing
- Works in emergency situations for sanding and salting walkways
- Assists other crews in the performance of their duties as needed
- Assists with encampment cleanup efforts in partnership with other departments
- Operates mowers, blowers, trimmers, and power tools
- Operates heavy equipment such as a backhoe and skid steer to efficiently demolish buildings and a dump trump truck or roll-off truck for removing waste from demolition sites
- Follows policies, procedures, safety guidelines and inspections of equipment and tools
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in maintenance or a related field

- Valid driver license
