Summary
The Fleet Services Operations Manager assists in the day-to-day operations and management of the fleet services technical team. Assists in the planning, direction, administration, and coordination of department activities, including budget preparation, management of systems to track inventory, and the implementation of policy/procedures.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs shop technical operations
  • Hires, evaluates performance, guides, and disciplines direct reports
  • Establishes productivity requirements, assists employees to correct job-skill deficiencies 
  • Arranges or conducts technician training in repair, reconditioning, maintenance techniques, equipment use, and operational procedures
  • Ensures technician certification compliance; ASE and EVT certifications, and CNG/Hybrid systems 
  • Serves as point of contact and administrator for the Fleet Motor Pool and GPS programs
  • Maintains TCEQ stormwater compliance, coordinates with vendors or suppliers for repair/sublet needs
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decreases turnaround times, streamlines work processes, and provides quality seamless customer service
  • Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of maintenance policies/procedures, and budgets
  • Ensures compliance of safety protocols and departmental policies to include the purchase of equipment, safety items, and shop tools and supplies
  • Inspects operational areas for adherence to safety standards; ensures work related injuries/incidents are reported
  • Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in Business Administrations or related field
  • Three (3) years of experience in automotive or equipment facility management
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Municipal government experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid driver’s license
