Summary
Responsible for managing IT networking, security, and system/database administration. Manages technical resources and assets for the purpose of providing support to the City’s technology infrastructure. This includes managing the network, servers, storage devices, and other hardware and software components. Ensures the IT infrastructure is secure, reliable, and efficient, and able to support the City’s operational requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages activities related to keeping the infrastructure performing optimally including backing up the systems, performance tuning, installing operating system upgrades and patches, implementing security and virus protection, and providing 24-hour monitoring and support.
- Provides a secure, compliant, robust, reliable, scalable, and efficient infrastructure and directs infrastructure support strategy and operations.
- Manages Internet infrastructure including management of firewalls to provide Internet connectivity for company functions and provide 24-hour monitoring and support.
- Ensures that platforms are efficiently utilized, the cost to operate and support the platforms aligns with business expectations, and that all regulatory and compliance requirements are met for all platforms (to include, but not limited to PCI DSS, federal and state security and compliance regulations, etc.).
- Improves, tunes and expands all systems as growth demands. Ensures infrastructure installations go smoothly, as well as software and hardware upgrades.
- Oversees the day-to-day support of all production platforms to ensure the high availability, integrity, and confidentiality of the network, servers, storage, telecommunications services, and information.
- Recruits, mentors, develops, and monitors performance of team in the division
- Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; reviews progress, and directs changes in priorities, schedules, procedures to meet deadlines.
- Oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of technical solutions, support standards, business continuity, and disaster recovery
- Provides technical guidance and support to staff and clients on issues related to infrastructure
- Applies technical knowledge in systems or technological areas to effectively manage projects or programs
- Contributes to the development of technology infrastructure and operational standards for the division
- Follows policy, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field of technology infrastructure
- Four (4) years of experience in areas related to local and wide area networks, communication infrastructure, security systems, data centers, IDF/MPOE, UPS, wiring, cable management, and business continuity
- Three (3) years of experience in a managerial role leading a technology infrastructure group

- Valid driver's license
