Summary
The Finance System Analyst is responsible for providing functional and technical support for the City’s financial software system. Responsible for reviewing, maintaining, and improving the system. This role ensures the accuracy, functionality, and efficiency of financial systems, providing technical support, analysis, and reporting. The Finance System Analyst works closely with the Finance team to enhance system capabilities, streamline processes, and support decision-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees the configuration, implementation, testing, and ongoing management of the City’s financial systems
- Ensures the integrity, security, and accuracy of financial data across various systems
- Analyzes financial processes and systems to identify areas for improvement; recommends process enhancements to optimize the use of financial software
- Collaborates with Information Technology Services to integrate new systems or updates
- Provides technical support to finance staff and other end-users of the financial systems
- Documents system process, creates user guides, and conducts training sessions for system users
- Monitors, troubleshoots, and resolves system issues; serves as the primary point of contact for system-related inquiries
- Develops and maintains financial reports and dashboards to assist in data-driven decision-making
- Extracts, analyzes, and generates reports in the analysis of financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Supports budget preparation and financial forecasting by providing relevant data/system-generated reports
- Leads or participates in finance system upgrade projects, including planning, testing, and deployment
- Manages timelines, resources, and communication for system-related projects
- Adheres to City policies and procedures, including work schedule and attendance policies
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field
Four (4) years of experience in finance system analysis, financial software management, or a similar roll
Knowledge and experience with SQL, financial/accounting software, and accounting/financial concepts
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with financial system integration, financial management processes, and related technologies
Familiarity with public sector finance and regulatory requirements
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Certified Public Account (CPA) or Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) certification or progress towards CPA or CGFO certification preferred
