Summary
This position is responsible for identifying and targeting groups capable of generating a positive economic impact through conferences, meetings, retreats, reunions, and sporting events through implementation of short and long-term sales and marketing strategies. The position requires a thorough knowledge of destination meeting/conference venues, lodging properties with group capacity, municipal facilities for rent, sports fields for tournament play, etc.

The position requires a thorough knowledge of destination meeting/conference venues, lodging properties with group capacity, municipal facilities for rent, sports fields for tournament play, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in development and execution of group sales strategies and marketing efforts
- Develops working relationships with local hospitality partners and services
- Maintains and updates personal knowledge of Temple and Bell County including history, new businesses, tourism trends and group services businesses
- Represents the destination at consumer shows, conferences, and industry events with the goal of increasing group room night bookings
- Maintains and updates CMS/CRM records
- Answers inquiries regarding the destination as well as keeping record of inquiries for the purpose of converting inquiries to room nights
- Acts as local expert to groups and provide planning assistance utilizing local partners and services
- Conducts/coordinates venue and client site inspections
- Develops sales leads to attract conventions and meetings through sales calls, database marketing, trade shows, cooperative promotions, and public relations
- Maintains an active prospecting effort, including follow up on all leads with hotels, convention center, and other municipal facilities that impact the hotel/motel tax
- Conducts sales calls and marketing efforts to achieve sales goals
- Executes assigned tasks as detailed in the Destination Annual Marketing Plan
- Assists the lead sales and marketing team member with sales follow-up, group servicing details, and coordination efforts
- Coordinates sales and marketing activity with the lead sales and marketing team member
- Markets the sports fields and amenities for tournament play

- Assists with meetings/group/sports content development for destination website (listings copy, introductory copy, etc. as required)
- Utilizes CRM/CMS management (Simple view)
- Proofreads marketing materials
- Stakeholder Relationships
- Develops and maintains ongoing visitor business stakeholder relationships (hotels, attractions, sports organizers, event organizers, group services vendors, etc.)
- Visitor Services
- Prepares individual visitor fulfillment mailings requested via website, telephone or USPS
- Prepares and distributes fulfillment to determined area businesses, attractions, hotels, and regional lodging properties, etc.
- Liaises with Texas Welcome Centers as necessary
- Maintains quantities of all visitor fulfillment and related shipping materials (envelopes, bags, labels, etc.)
- Maintains list of any fulfillment content edits and updates
- Prepares fulfillment bags/materials for incoming conferences and tournaments as requested
- Prepares registration materials to incoming meetings as offered by destination sales
- Provides on-site ‘Hospitality/Concierge Table’ as assigned (manage the entire process including set-up, fulfillment materials, tear down, etc.)

- Assists Destination Marketing function area and team with a variety of projects, events, and administrative support
- Participates in professional organizations and marketing/sales information groups to advance knowledge and network with other industry professionals
- Participates with off-site travel trade or consumer trade shows including organization, travel, set-up/tear down, and follow-up as assigned
- Prepares ongoing reports for Destination Marketing Manager (weekly/monthly)
- Follows the city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Combination of education and experience equivalent to bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communication, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related field
- One (1) year related experience; experience in hospitality, sales, marketing, content creation, newsletter writing, digital photography, website CRM/CMS, social media platforms
- Outside sales experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Driver’s License
- Industry credential such as Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME through Destinations International) or other related hospitality/tourism professional certification preferred (CMP, CTA, CAE, CTE, TDM, CASE, etc.) - preferred
