Field Educator
The role of the Field Educator is to collaborate with administration and departmental management to develop and conduct educational programs for the agency.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops educational programs that will address the needs of the agency to include, but not limited to: quality patient care, patient outcomes, and agency compliance to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Evaluates the educational needs of agency programs with focus on tracking and trending issues that have a major impact on patient care and patient safety.
- Collaborates with administration and the Clinical Nursing Supervisor in the development of clinical educational resource materials and training tools.
- Creates, maintains, and facilitates orientation, in-services, and training for the clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Provides educational support of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) computer system for the clinical staff in conjunction with the IT department.
- Maintains relevant statistics as they relate to staff education.
- Reviews, revises, and up-dates clinical educational policy and procedures annually.
- Participates in the utilization chart review committee and performs additional chart audits as assigned.
- Participates in quality and performance improvement activities.
- Communicates and shares related educational issues and data with administration and supervisor.
- Monitors and reports data findings to administration and supervisor to assure compliance with policy and procedures and improvement of outcomes.
- Attends educational workshops and other educational activities
- Keeps abreast of the latest information on home care educational issues.
- Participates in on-call supervisory rotation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications Required
- Registered professional nurse.
- Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate skills for communicating with all levels of professional staff.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred
- Master’s degree in a health-related field preferred, B.S. in nursing preferred.
- Two years of home health experience preferred.
- Two years of educational experience preferred
- Computer knowledge preferred
