Orientation: June 12 – June 13, 2025
CPR/First Aid Training: June 16, 2025
Summary
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and adults with disabilities? Join the Barber National Institute as a Lead Camp Counselor for Camp Connections this summer!
As a Lead Camp Counselor, you will create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where campers can learn, grow, and enjoy new experiences. You’ll be active in developing plans for our six-week summer camp which will help participants develop social and emotional skills in a supportive environment. Specifically, you will be responsible for implementing the social skills curriculum and lesson plans for the campers on a daily basis. Camp activities include classroom instruction, field trips, arts and crafts, and games.
What you’ll need:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Completed one year of college and at least one year of experience working with children or children with disabilities
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Eligibility for State Police Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI DHS Fingerprinting.
- FBI clearance required for individuals who do not meet PA residency requirements (FBI Aging).

Typical day to day:
- Leading engaging activities such as arts and crafts, sports, or outdoor adventures.
- Assisting with meals, transitions, and daily routines.
- Encourage camper participation while ensuring safety at all times.
- Collaborating with fellow consolers to create a positive experience for campers.
- Helping campers build friendships, develop independence, and have fun.
