Director - Residential Services (Erie)
Position Overview:
As the Director of Residential Services for the Erie region, you’ll play a pivotal leadership role at Barber National Institute. This position is responsible for overseeing the Residential Services Program, ensuring that our mission and values are embedded in all aspects of the program’s operations. You’ll lead a team that includes Associate Directors and Benefits Managers, with responsibilities spanning budget management, staffing, employee development, and innovative program enhancements.
This role requires independent decision-making, strategic planning, and collaboration across departments to drive sustainable growth and maintain compliance with all regulatory standards. Additionally, you’ll provide input on new service design, oversee capital assets, and uphold high-quality operational practices.

Responsibilities:
- Leading team meetings to set and review objectives, addressing current challenges and celebrating achievements.
- Assuring that the philosophy and practices of the Institute are maintained in the Erie region while collaborating across Regional Residential Service Line programs to maintain consistency.
- Overseeing staffing needs, from recruiting and training to supporting staff development and engagement.
- Reviewing and approving budgets, managing expenses, and analyzing variances.
- Collaborating with senior leadership on program development, policy improvements, and innovation initiatives.
- Ensuring regulatory compliance through periodic on-site program reviews and maintaining strong relationships with local officials and regulatory bodies.
- Monitoring quality improvement metrics and addressing client satisfaction, communicating with families, and troubleshooting service-related issues.
- Working closely with other Residential Service regions to ensure alignment and consistency in practices.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in a leadership role; residential intellectual disability experience is required.
- Ability to be available evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proven expertise in strategic decision-making, data interpretation, and financial management.
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.
- Exceptional communication abilities, with experience in public relations and government affairs.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Eligibility for State Police Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance.
