SUMMARY

Branch assignments are to be identified using current performance measures. Under performing branches will be identified and assigned to ROM by VP of Branch Development. Operational Review and assessment to be documented upon visit to branches outlining opportunities for improvements. Action plan to be developed and timeline for implementation established to complete improvements. Schedule to review action plans with VP Branch Development and local management to be maintained until results from branch meet company expectations. ROM will be directly responsible in conjunction with the VP Sales and Operations for further development and implementation of the Company Operational Best Practices.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews results of assigned branches warehouse and transportation operations each period, compares them to budgeted KPI’s, expense budgets, consults and documents action plans with field operations managers to correct unsatisfactory results.
  • Assist Branch General Managers in training, and general development of Operations Managers and Supervisors.
  • Assists local management in planning and route realignments. On an ongoing basis, helps determine local staffing requirements.
  • Trains and assists local Operations Managers in training of their staffs.
  • Assists in the development of annual branch expense budgets.
  • Assists with local operations meetings as required.
  • Plans and executes corporate operations meetings, in conjunction with other ROMs and VP Branch Development.
  • Assists assigned branches in developing cost efficiencies in all areas.
  • Reviews management succession plans in the branches operations department for the future development of operations personnel.
  • Assists in helping Company achieve overall sales, expense and profit budget.
  • Responsible for periodic field audits of sanitation and physical condition of warehouses, material handling equipment, and rolling stock. Reviews utilization of equipment and reviews and recommends capital expenditures for new equipment to increase efficiencies.
  • Assumes a lead position in conferring with branch management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policy and procedures and to ensure coordination of operation activities with the activities of other departments such as production, sales, accounting, and purchasing.
  • Constantly looks for better, more efficient ways to gain productivity / save expense.
  • Oversees compliance with warehouse and transportation related administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations.
  • Directs investigations into causes of customer or shipper complaints and responds accordingly. Follows up on ALL customer requests and questions to ensure appropriate response is made and customer is satisfied.
  • Treats all customers (both internal and external) with respect, courtesy and kindness. Upholds and complies with policies and attitudes adopted by the company. Accepts responsibility to think about how actions affect our customers and our company.
  • Reports progress in all areas of responsibility to the VP Branch Development at specified time intervals.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet Company goals.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Acts as a member of the regional corporate staff, working to achieve results through consulting with the branch General Managers, and their local staffs. Carries out all assigned responsibilities in accordance with company policies, union contracts and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals and promotional materials. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Compensation: 

The starting salary range for this position is $90,000, with final compensation based on experience and qualifications.
