Job Title: Receptionist
Status: Full Time
Hours: Variable
Reports to: Team Leader/ Surgicenter Director
Purpose of Job: Responsible for greeting customers, providing information, communicating with departments scheduling of surgeries.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must be able to work forty (40) hours per week and overtime as deemed necessary by the supervisor
- Must be self-motivated, professional, and maintain a positive attitude
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to multitask and handle obstacles with excellent customer service skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Demonstrates knowledge of computers.
- Protects the patients’ rights, privacy, and dignity.
- Greets customers in polite, prompt, helpful manner. Provides any necessary instructions/directions. Informs appropriate department/person of patient’s arrival. Shows accuracy and attention to detail.
- Completes necessary paperwork such as encounter forms or registration papers. Uses computer system to generate information necessary for billing (i.e. looking up patient chart information to verify address, telephone number, etc.).
- Updates patient information, verifies patient co-pays with insurance company, contacts patient regarding co-pay and options for paying it, provides any necessary forms needing completion, and obtains signatures as necessary.
- Maintains clean, orderly waiting area including beverage area and reading materials.
- Answers phones in pleasant manner and deals with customer needs expeditiously.
- Supplements office staff as reception tasks permit by assisting with photocopying, computer input/typing, scheduling laboratory or radiology work as directed.
- Possesses time management skills.
- Knowledge of reception tasks, clinic policies/procedures, paperwork.
- Maintains excellent customer service skills
- Communicates clearly in person and on the phone and establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff and other customers.
- Uses office equipment satisfactorily and handles paperwork/filing adequately.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in an office environment.
- Involves frequent contact with the public. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people
- Stressful work environment
- Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Requires hand eye coordination and finger dexterity, stooping and bending, or sitting for extended period of time
- Must be able to view computer screens for long periods of time
