Program Description:

This program provides a unique opportunity for individuals to pursue a health career and employment in a health career, which are both in high demand.  Enrolled students complete a rigorous curriculum with courses in Hipaa, Medical Terminology, Patient Care Introduction, Professional Communication, Basic CPI, OSHA, Basic Clerical Skills, Basic Clinical/Patient Vitals and Skills, Basic Anatomy and Physiology, Clinical and Clerical Computer Program Systems, and Basic Computer Skills.  Expected content mastery is reinforced through many hands-on clinical application and opportunities.  Students will gain skills in communications, taking vital signs, assisting with clinical examinations, and performing certain medical procedures.  The goal of this program is to equip individuals with professional capabilities and connect them with employment opportunities to launch fulfilling careers in healthcare.

Job Description

Students enrolled in MMC and You will be employed on a temporary basis.  Students will be paid for their learning and clinical experiences while studying during MMC and YOU.  Students will then be expected to successfully complete a month-long probationary clinical rotation at MMC.  Upon successful completion of both classroom and clinical rotations during MMC and YOU, a student may then be considered for employment at MMC, as MMC employment needs dictate. 

 

Working Conditions

Interactions with others in constant and interruptive.  There is possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to medical practice.  Varied activities including walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), stooping, assisting patients and sitting for extended periods of time may occur.  Also, occasional stress from multiple responsibilities. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains general housekeeping of all areas of study
  • Demonstrates professional and independent judgement in daily work assignments
  • Compliant with HIPPA policies and procedures, maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Performs related work as required
  • Reports directly to Academic Program Coordinator or supervising clinical manager/mentor.

  • Students will take ownership and pride in their daily environment, including appearance, conduct, work output, and peer interactions. 
  • Students will need to attend all classes, physically.   Two or more absences will cause the student to be dismissed from the program and require them to reapply.
  • Students will be bound by the expectations and guidelines presented in the MMC Employee Handbook and should refer to this handbook to ensure clear understanding of expected standards of professionalism and conduct.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or successful completion of GED program with a minimal of GPA of 2.5 or higher

 

  • Prospective students will go through an interview with Academic Program Coordinator, HR Director, Pediatrics Lead Nurse, and/ or MMC NOW Manager.
