Human Resources Manager

This role is based in Mankato, MN.
What You’ll Do
- Oversees the administration of human resources policies and programs, which may include talent acquisition and onboarding, retention, DE&I efforts, training and career development, employee and labor relations and compensation and benefits planning.
- Performs difficult Human Resource duties, including dealing with under staffing, refereeing disputes, terminating employees and administering disciplinary procedures.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations, including EEO, FMLA, and FLSA.
- Advises management team in the application of Human Resources programs to departmental operations as well as advise on Human Resources issues to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, policies and procedures.
- Creates and modifies reports to share with senior level management regarding metrics related to turn-over, absenteeism, headcount, applicant tracking, compensation, promotions, etc.
- Demonstrates by personal example MPS principles in work performance that are expected from team members.
- Administers workers compensation and responds to claims and employees as appropriate.
- Plans, directs, monitors, coaches, motivates, and evaluates employees. Participates in the hiring, discipline, and performance management of employees.
- Leads efforts on building morale, increasing productivity and building retention.
- Sets department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change while managing the process of innovative change effectively and remaining on the forefront of emerging industry practices.
- Works with, coaches, and advises supervisors on effective performance management among teams.
- Conducts workplace investigations and inquiries into employee complaints and/or concerns.
- Oversees all activities relating to administration and maintenance of payroll.
- Maintains, updates and controls access to confidential information such as personnel records in compliance with organizational, departmental, state and federal regulatory requirements and compiles reports.
- Assist the organization in Human Resource strategic planning and implementation of new programs and policies.
- Offers suggestions for improvements of operations or processes.
- Performs physical and cognitive demands promoting safety in the work environment required for this position.
- Attends work during regularly scheduled hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
- Communicates and interacts effectively and efficiently with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and customers.
What You’ll Need to Excel in This Role
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Industrial Relations or related field.
- 5+ years of experience HR. Union experience is essential.
- Skilled interpersonal relations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

The compensation for this position ranges from $98,000 to $122,000.
