Job Summary

The Transmission Project Pursuits Manager – (TPPM) manages all aspects of transmission project proposals. Most duties occur from the pre-bid stage through contract signing and order entry, after which the project is handed to another project manager. The TPPM generally focuses on more challenging project-related opportunities, while others handle day-to-day quote requests. The TPPM reports to the Transmission Commercial Sales Manager and offices in Ft. Mill, SC. The TPPM has no direct reports but requires engaging Sales, Project Coordinators, Pricing, Applications Engineering, and others for support. Light travel may be required between Ft. Mill and York, SC (car, est. 5%) to attend factory visits with customers and work with plants on strategy. Other occasional travel (air, est. 5%) may be necessary for training, conferences, or to help secure large projects.

Job Duties

  • Maintains awareness of all transmission projects in house which may affect quotations
  • Reviews and understands customer requirements and drawings at a high level and understands technical and commercial specifications at a medium level.
  • Cross-references competitor catalog numbers and identifies MacLean products based on descriptions, drawings, or technical specifications using database tools and catalogs.
  • Begins to identify missing components in a customer request and fill the gaps using the already provided information and by reaching out to stakeholders as needed.
  • Continually learns MacLean transmission products and their applications
  • Organizes the entire request and compartmentalizes as needed into standard input forms, then submits to appropriate divisions, such as Pricing, Applications Engineering, Management, Legal, and Sales
  • Receives information returned from divisions and reviews for correctness, analyzes data for reasonability, consolidates information, and submits proposals to prospective customers
  • Schedules, organizes and leads meetings to hand-off project to Execution team
  • Interacts professionally with customers and MacLean divisions via phone, email, Teams, and in-person
  • Outlines and leads meetings to explain the RFQ and bid strategy to all stakeholders when asked
  • Uses Salesforce to enter all opportunities, and ensures potential projects are accurately documented and monitored, and for awarded projects, ensures information is transitioned to the execution team
  • Conducts weekly post-mortems and lessons-learned reviews to improve execution and hit rate
  • Organizes, maintains, and stores documentation on company servers for easy access and safekeeping
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives within the Transmission Team by identifying process inefficiencies and recommending solutions.
  • Helps transmission project execution team as needed
  • Adheres to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
  • Follows all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

  • Technical or Analytical degree preferred
  • Experience reading technical drawings and specifications
  • Experience with quotations, pricing, project planning, logistics, and electric utility products is a plus
  • Knowledge of the electric utility industry, distributors, packagers, and contractors a plus

  • Able to work in Ft. Mill, SC office Monday - Friday
  • Familiarity with Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • An internal drive that expects all deliverables to be of highest quality and fully complete
