As a member of our team – you will be driving operational performance through planning, organizing and directing of the production departments assigned. Your first year, and beyond, on our team:

Teamwork: You’ll supervise production supervisors and production staff.  You’ll promote safety in the work environment, ensuring all employees are working safely and following safety rules.  You’ll plan, direct, monitor, coach, motivate, evaluate and facilitate effective team interaction, utilizing each team member to his/her fullest potential.

Directly impact our operations: You’ll create and drive a continuous improvement agenda, ensuring that productivity and plan projects are successfully executed.  You’ll ensure maximization of throughput of good product through Machining and Finishing.  You’ll develop production plans for effective use of equipment and employees to assure product flows according to company goals and expectations. 

Agile Development: You will offer and implement suggestions for improvements of operations or processes and be responsible for providing leadership and training for direct employees.  You’ll confer with engineers, maintenance, supervisors and team members to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions or provide technical support.

To join our team, you will need

Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot and negotiate: investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations to the maintenance crew to resolve issues in a timely manner. 

• Ability to evaluate through high level complex analysis operational performance, human resources and effectiveness of departmental operations through proper data collection and analysis. 

Experience: Bachelor’s degree, 5+ years of machining experience, 5+ years of strong leadership experience, automation implementation and utilization experience

Communicate and Interact Effectively: The ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook to effectively communicate with internal teams and vendors.    Demonstrate core values and initiatives through work performance and communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates by personal example MacLean Power Systems (MPS) values in work performance that are expected from everyone at MPS
  • Responsible for implementing lean manufacturing practices for machining and finishing operations.
  • Ensures maximization of throughput of good product through machining and finishing.
  • Works with supervisors to maintain staffing levels to accomplish MPS goals and objectives.
  • Oversees cross training within and across departments.
  • Creates and drives continuous improvement agenda that ensures that productivity and plant projects are successfully executed.
  • Ensures that cost, quality, and delivery goals and other KPI goals are met
  • Actively promotes and ensures a safe working environment, ensuring all employees are working safely and following safety rules.
  • Facilitates effective team interaction by acknowledging and appreciating each team member's contributions; effectively utilizing each team member to his/her fullest potential.
  • Easily recognizes work product deficiencies and implements effective solutions.
  • Oversees direct reports by promoting engagement, working productively and meeting goals of the department.
  • Plans, directs, monitors, coaches, motivates, and evaluates employees.  Participates in the hiring, discipline, and performance management of employees.
  • Provides leadership and training for direct employees.
  • Develops production plans for effective use of equipment and employees to assure product flows according to company goals and expectations.
  • Confers with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
  • Develops, coordinates, or monitors all aspects of production.
  • Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and makes recommendations to maintenance crew and to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Oversees installation, operation, maintenance, or repair to ensure that machines or equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Researches new equipment and participates in the preparation of capital expenditures for new equipment purchases.
  • Utilizes systems to perform duties and process changes to products/procedures.
  • Participates in design review initiatives for new products.
  • Optimizes the equipment for minimal setup time, changeover, and operational cycles.
  • Provides the process and operational documentation for effective use of the equipment in the production environment.
  • Attends various meetings and/or participates on committees as needed or assigned.
  • Offers suggestions for improvements of operations or processes.
  • Performs physical and cognitive demands promoting safety in the work environment required for this position.
  • Attends work during regularly scheduled hours and outside regular hours, as necessary.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively and efficiently with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and customers.
