Zoo Environmental Services Worker (EVS) - Seasonal – 1st Shift 

Pay Range: $10.15 – $15.98 /hr

 

 

1st shift timings - 7am-3:30pm

 

Job Summary:

Perform janitorial or cleaning duties, to do party set up and break downs at the Milwaukee County Zoo

 

Work Schedule: Employee must have flexibility to work days and evenings, as occasionally required. Employee must also have the availability to work weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) as it is a requirement for this position.  

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Cleaning – Perform a variety of janitorial or cleaning duties at the Milwaukee County Zoo, to be responsible for the custodial work in assigned areas, to requisition and issue cleaning supplies and materials, to check and report need for repairs.
  • Maintaining - To mop, scrub, wax, or polish floors, to wash walls, windows, woodwork and equipment.  To collect and dispose of all types of rubbish and trash.
  • Set up and Break Down - To set up and break down tables, chairs, risers, stages, and podiums used at public and private events held at the Zoo, to follow a blueprint, or instruction of the event coordinators, to interact with staff or visitor to allow for a successful event
  • Other - Assist other departments with their duties, other duties that maybe assigned. To provide information and direction to Zoo visitors, to lend assistance to other staff and Zoo visitors, other jobs and duties that may be assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current resident of Wisconsin
  • Must be 16 years old
  • Housekeeping experience preferred.
  • The position of Zoo Worker 3 through 6 may act as lead worker for newer Zoo Workers
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license required.
  • Lift/Carry (lbs.) – 50 lbs and Push/Pull (lbs.) – 100 lbs

 

 

Note: This Original Examination is open to current residents of the State of Wisconsin. In accordance with Rule III section11 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of a review of candidate materials, education and related experience.
