Associate Accountant - Hybrid

Department of Administration Services

Hourly Range: $19.49 - 29.24

 

Job Summary: Under direct supervision, the Associate Accountant supports the financial planning, analysis, and decision-making processes within the Central Business Office (CBO). This position plays a crucial role in supporting the financial health of CBO departments by providing accurate financial information, and strategic plans. The Associate Accountant supports management and Sr. analysts by performing ad-hoc analysis, budget preparation, and providing insights as well as facts for decision making.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reporting and Data Analysis - Assist in reconciliation and compilation of financial data to assist analysts and program managers in providing division directors valuable, actionable data by maintaining statistical and financial reports, investigating, and journal entry preparation.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis - Assist in various tasks as assigned and special projects. Examine fiscal documents thoroughly and apply to appropriate accounts.
  • Budget Management and Administration - Assist in preparation of schedules and reports from financial data. Provide support to accountants, analysts, and financial managers in investigations and analysis. May assist in the preparation and monitoring of smaller department budgets.
  • Accounting and procurement entries - Assist with preparation and recording of journal entries, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Year-end Audit - Assist with preparation of year-end accruals, reversals, journal entries and audit requests as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Current resident of WI
  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in accounting or finance.
  • In lieu of education requirement, candidates with a high school diploma or GED and at least five (5) years of accounting or finance work experience will also qualify.
  • Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis and financial modeling software.  
  • Ability to carry, lift, push and pull 20 lbs.
