IT Manager - Airport

Job Summary: The Airport IT Manager will be responsible for overseeing the technology infrastructure and operations for Milwaukee Mitchell International and Timmerman Airports, working in collaboration with Milwaukee County’s Information Management Services Division (IMSD) to find synergies and enhance the overall technology footprint of the Airports. This role will require a strong understanding of technology as well as the ability to lead and manage a team who manage and support the Airport’s network, telcom, hardware, software, and storage. This position coordinates technology project planning and implementation working with departments across the Airport and in conjunction with IMSD. This position also has oversight responsibility for the Airport’s Geographical Information Systems (GIS) team.
Schedule: This position will work a hybrid schedule 8am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and implement Airport IT strategies aligned with the Airport’s goals. Collaborate with management to understand technology needs. Stay informed on emerging technologies. Communicate technology solutions to stakeholders. Drive efficiency and enhance passenger experience with IT strategies.
- Partner with IMSD to identify synergies and opportunities to enhance the Airport’s technology footprint. Work collaboratively to evaluate existing technology solutions and implement new ones that drive innovation and efficiency. Leverage the expertise of both Airport IT and IMSD teams to achieve common goals.
- Supervise and oversee day-to-day IT operations and GIS for the Airport, ensuring smooth and efficient system functioning. Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and protocols. Troubleshot system issues and work with IT team to resolve them promptly. Oversee change management processes and ensure adherence to established maintenance schedules to support system reliability and continuity. Ensure all security measures are maintained and up to date.
- Direct and manage a team of IT professionals by providing mentorship, guidance, and support. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment to facilitate team success. Identify and address skill gaps and training needs. Ensure team members are aligned with airport goals and objectives.
- Identify and propose new technologies and solutions to improve Airport operations and enhance the passenger experience. Conduct research to stay informed of emerging trends and technologies. Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate solutions and ensure alignment with Airport goals. Recommend innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- Manage vendor and partner relationships to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services and solutions. Establish and maintain communication channels to ensure timely issue resolution. Negotiate contracts and service level agreements to obtain optimal terms. Collaborate with partners to develop innovative solutions that drive efficiency.
- Monitor and manage the IT budget for the Airport, ensuring compliance with overall financial goals. Develop budget proposals and present to senior management for approval. Track and report expenditures to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines. Identify areas of cost savings and implement efficiencies where possible.
- Create and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure industry standard and regulatory compliance. Develop and maintain policies that protect the Airport’s digital assets and sensitive data. Monitor compliance with policies and procedures and ensure that employees are trained on them. Regularly review policies and procedures.
- Act as a liaison between Airport management and the IT department by providing regular updates on IT projects and initiatives. Communicate the status of ongoing projects highlighting successes and areas of concern. Facilitate collaboration between IT and other departments. Ensure alignment of IT initiatives with overall Airport goals.
- Maintain an Airport IT lifecycle program to ensure operational viability and integrity of the Airport. Allow the Airport to be progressive and flexible in technology approach.
- Ability to life, carry, push, and pull up to 20 lbs. required.

Minimally Required License/Certification, Education and Experiences
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable insured vehicle required and must be maintained throughout employment
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related field
- Five (5) years or more of work experience in Information Technology required
- Three (3) years or more of work experience in a Supervisory or Management role required
- Advanced knowledge of all work-related computer and software applications required
