Engineers Class 1
The Maintenance Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for assisting with the operation maintenance service and repair of equipment as assigned. He/she is also responsible for participating in the preventative maintenance program handling guest requests and other work orders as assigned. He/she is also responsible for performing the job in a safe and efficient manner and performing trade jobs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing etc. May require driving shuttle van when needed.
Your day to day
Arrives at work in a timely fashion in accordance with schedule.
Resolves guest complaints to the satisfaction of the guest; responds promptly to any guest request for service.
Works as a member of the overall hotel team to ensure that each guest has an experience that exceeds their expectations. Maintains a “can do” and a “guests first” attitude at all times. Abiding by established uniform guidelines.
Maintain and repair the interior and exterior of building and grounds on a daily, weekly, monthly basis and participating in daily room maintenance.
Maintain a work order assignment board and track completed/pending work orders. Execution of the hotel’s preventative maintenance program. Follow-up on all incomplete work orders to inform requesting guest or department of the status of their work order.
Responsible for regular room preventative maintenance. This includes thoroughly making sure that all equipment work properly, room is thoroughly cleaned including the filters, this is detail cleaned (separate from housekeeping), behind the refrigerator and microwave, repair and/or replace any broken items in the room. Repairs may be needed with minor electrical, plumbing and HVAC, hardware, televisions, door locks, furniture, fixtures, paint, wallpaper, drywall repair, vacuum and shampoo carpets, looking for attention to detail. You look at the room through the lens of a guest and you repair the room to that standard.
Ensure preventative maintenance throughout the building will include, maintenance on laundry equipment, heating and air conditioning units, ice machines, fire/smoke alarms, taking out the trash, lawn care, fitness equipment, pool and spa includes recording the chemical readings as required by the local laws, electrical, plumbing are performed as required by the manufacturer and in accordance with the warranty specifications, etc.
Communicate with front desk to update any room status changes or guest requests follow-up, etc.
Attends scheduled training sessions within the hotel as dictated by the Choice brand and the hotel management.
Must be willing to work a variety of day/night and weekend shifts.
Must be able to work independently.
