Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Relationship Development: Assist in establishing contact and developing relationships with prospective partners, including but not limited to industrial partners and financial institutions. Support the development and implementation of strategies to manage business development in the chemical and energy industries in the Americas.
  • Business Development: Contribute to creating business cluster opportunities that generate sustainable profits for Mitsui, in line with the business strategies of each business unit. Utilize Mitsui’s existing network of industry contacts to generate new business opportunities. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining financial models, crafting Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), and assisting in the crafting of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), Joint Development Agreements (JDAs), and Joint Venture Agreements (JVAs).
  • Prospect Evaluation: Assist in the evaluation of potential organic or inorganic (M&A) growth projects, including evaluating Mitsui Portfolio/Affiliated company growth projects where applicable. Propose value-accretive options to the Director for consideration.
  • Industry Awareness: Maintain awareness of the latest developments, particularly in sustainability and de-carbonization fields, to support business strategy.
  • Partnership and Stakeholder Management: Assist in partnership management, stakeholder engagement, communications management, and strategy implementation within areas of influence. Foster constructive relationships with prospective partners (internal and external) by listening to and assessing their needs to add value.
  • Other Duties: To be assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Experience

  • Essential:
    • Intellectual curiosity with the ability to multi-task and manage relationships across multiple cultures and levels successfully.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
    • Results-oriented and creative professional.
    • Leadership skills, collaboration skills, and highly skilled communication abilities with a demonstrated ability to build relationships.
    • Active communicator with extensive interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and consider others’ perspectives.
    • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
    • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related or Business Required
  • Optional:
    • International business experience.
    • Venture investment experience.
