CNC Operator Lead - 1st Shift

The Lead CNC Operator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing activities within the designated work area, ensuring efficient machine operation, quality production, and adherence to safety standards. This role leads the team by providing guidance, troubleshooting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance and achieve production goals.

 

Shift: 1st shift (7am-3pm)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machinery for moderately complex tasks, ensuring all equipment is properly calibrated and maintained for optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and perform routine and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in the operation of CNC equipment within the designated department, stepping in as needed to support production goals and manage workflow.
  • Inspect raw materials, finished products, and machinery to identify defects or irregularities, ensuring all outputs meet high-quality standards and specifications.
  • Lead and drive process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for enhancing machine efficiency, reducing waste, improving cycle times, and increasing overall productivity.
  • Monitor and correct departmental output aligns with organizational goals and production schedules, troubleshooting issues that impact timelines and collaborating with team members to resolve them swiftly.
  • Provide guidance to the manufacturing/operations team in interpreting and applying standard operating procedures, policies, and work instructions.
  • Contribute to the development of process efficiencies, continuous improvements, and best practices that enhance productivity and quality.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Skills/Competencies

  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow and interpret written and verbal work directions.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills.
  • Intermediate use of required gaging instruments and the application of such instruments.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide teams toward achieving goals and maintaining high performance.
  • Excellent team-building abilities, fostering collaboration and a positive work environment.

 

Qualifications

 

Required

  • Education: High School
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience.
  • Experience driving powered industrial equipment.
