What You’ll Do as a Tool Design Engineer

As a fastener cold heading Tool Design Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in designing and optimizing tooling systems to support our manufacturing processes. You’ll work closely with a collaborative team, contribute to exciting projects, and gain valuable hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop tooling systems aligned with production goals and product specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality, to solve design challenges.
  • Create and maintain detailed CAD drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and other design documentation.
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues and support new product launches to ensure smooth operations.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to optimize efficiency and processes.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards while ensuring a clean, organized workspace.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (e.g., mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering).
  • Experience: No formal experience required—internships, co-ops, or a desire to learn and grow in tooling design and manufacturing are valued.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency or familiarity with AutoCAD and other design tools. Proficiency in the use of measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, optical comparator, etc., is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes or a willingness to learn lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in tooling design.
