Valet Captain/ Lead - Downtown Charleston (Full-time Open Availability)
Valet Captain/Lead Position:
As a Valet Captain/Lead, you will be responsible for orchestrating the exceptional service experience for hotel/site guests while working alongside coworkers to ensure that the site’s service standards are met or exceeded. Valet Captain has additional duties involving coordination and administration, as well as providing troubleshooting and/or guidance when the manager is not on-site. You will also be responsible for handling critical issues and be required to make judgment calls when expediency is a priority. When issues are not urgent, they report information to the manager, provide the facts of the matter and seek instructions on how to proceed.

What you can expect in a typical day:
- Provide our guests with an exceptional arrival and departure experience that makes them feel welcome.
- Engage the guest to provide superior guest service.
- Ensure the valets are staged to maximize the guest experience.
- Manages the traffic at the front of the site(s)
- Monitor the parking/drive up area to keep the flow of vehicles organized (barricades, directing traffic, calling cabs, etc. as needed)
- Coordinates activity in the drive with the valet drivers to ensure timely delivery of guest vehicles.
- Conduct key audit with the Valet team at the end of each shift.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the front of the valet stand entrance
- Notifies the Front Desk and Guest Services of VIP arrivals whenever possible.
- Maintains a clean and orderly appearance of the work area at all times. Create positive customer experiences by consistently providing excellent, 5-star service to Metropolis Parking’s clients and customers
- Assist customers and/or guests with luggage and other items, encouraging a positive arrival and departure experience
- Assist guests, customers and staff with general inquiries about parking, site location, directions, amenities, attractions, etc.
- Communicate with customers and staff who have general inquiries about parking, parking locations, and guest services
- Use and maintain equipment properly, including keeping equipment clean
- Work independently and as part of the team
- Accurately use claim check process to return the correct vehicle to each guest
- In the absence of the Operations Manager or Operations Supervisor, ensure coverage is maintained and breaks are taken appropriately
- Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Functions
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. - Incumbent must be able to
- Stand for up to six (6) consecutive hours
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Safely drive and park both automatic and manual transmission vehicles of all types and sizes
- Move quickly and carefully throughout the parking area
- Communicate effectively in spoken English with team members and customers
- Incumbent must maintain a clean driving record and current, valid driver license

- Strong interpersonal skills; frequently communicate with team members and customers; must be able to exchange accurate information.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Prior valet parking attendant experience preferred
Other Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
- Expected to constantly work in all outdoor weather conditions
- Required to wear a uniform and follow appropriate grooming standards
