Business Development Manager-Orthoplastics
The Business Development Manager will focus on driving profitable growth by generating new business and expanding Viant’s Orthoplastics presence in the U.S. orthopedic market. This role will primarily involve selling Viant’s Orthoplastics capabilities, but will cross-sell Viant’s diverse portfolio of plastics, metals, and complex assemblies to emerging and established orthopedic medical device OEMs.
This position requires a strong focus on generating new business, building customer relationships, retaining and growing current business revenues, and identifying incremental sales opportunities. The Business Development Manager will develop and execute territory growth strategies, while working closely with cross-functional teams secure new business and to strengthen and grow customer relationships.
This role is ideal for a growth-minded, self-starter who is interested in working with technical and business leaders to bring innovative, high-quality products to market in the orthopedic, joint replacement market. Orthoplastics is the market-leader who can bring innovative solutions to established and emerging companies in this space.

Key Responsibilities:
- Generate New Business: Proactively seek and secure new business opportunities within the orthopedic market, facilitating RFQ processes and delivering tailored proposals to close deals.
- Targeted Prospecting: Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for targeting new prospects within the orthopedic sector, ensuring continuous pipeline growth and market penetration.
- Customer Relationship Management: Establish, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key decision-makers at orthopedic OEMs, ensuring long-term partnerships and business success. Call points include R&D, procurement, and business leadership.
- Revenue Growth: Meet or exceed assigned sales targets, driving revenue growth and increasing market share through effective sales strategies and execution.
- Strategic Account Planning: Design and implement specific account strategies to promote revenue growth, deepen relationships, and capture new opportunities within the orthopedic space.
- Industry Expertise: Stay informed about the latest trends, technological advancements, and competitive landscape within the orthopedic industry to identify new sales opportunities and protect market share.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams in Commercial, Operations, Quality, and Finance to ensure seamless execution of growth strategies, high-quality service delivery, and customer satisfaction.
- Pricing and Proposals: Manage the pricing and proposal process, including new business quotes, existing business renewals, and price changes, ensuring competitive pricing and effective negotiations.
- Team Collaboration: Work with other commercial stakeholders, including Account Managers, to advance growth strategies and ensure alignment on business development goals.
Environmental Working Conditions:

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in a related discipline or engineering).
- A minimum of 5 years of business development and account management experience, with a strong focus on orthopedic OEM sales.
- Proven success in generating new business and driving revenue growth within the orthopedic OEM market.
- Expertise in managing high-value, complex business-to-business client relationships and engaging senior decision-makers in the orthopedic industry.
- Strong understanding of sales strategy, market execution, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver results.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and capable of building strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with tools like Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with orthopedic design drawings and technical specifications is preferred.
- Proven ability to assess the financial impact of business opportunities within the orthopedic industry.
