Molding Operator - Temporary Assignment

Position Description/Responsibilities:
Performs operations related to product. Exhibits knowledge of operations in assigned work area, assists in training of other operators, and projects a positive example for others to follow in the workplace. Freedom to act, under close supervision, in semi-structured assignments that normally require adherence to defined procedures and/or specific, detailed instructions with limited originality. Solves problems of limited scope and complexity.
Essential Functions:
Operates assigned injection molding machines or printing equipment in a daily basis as requested.
Understands and follows GMP procedures.
Follows instructions given by Supervisor, Group Leaders, Cell Leaders and Quality Inspectors.
Makes sure production from machines complies with specifications for quality requirements.
Notifies quality inspectors, cell leaders, group leaders and supervisors if any problems arise with product or machine.
Ensures correct packaging of product.
Fills out appropriate labels and paperwork related to machine assignments.
Complies with machine operator procedures required as per facility training matrix.
Work in bi-monthly major cleanings when required.
Performs any related duty assigned by immediate supervisor.
Skills:
- Demonstrates understanding of the product and process flow for assigned work area(s).
- Qualified to operate equipment in assigned work area, if necessary.
- Maintains a positive attitude with respect to changes in processes, methods, and work assignments.
- Once trained, able to work with little supervision. Demonstrates ability to train other operators.
- Possesses communication skills sufficient to read and write clearly and distinctly in English.
- Performs basic arithmetic calculations. Handles multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical Requirements:
- Light physical activity performing non-strenuous, day-to-day activities of a primarily productive nature.
- Moderate lifting (20 lbs.), carrying (10 lbs.), bending, and prolonged sitting.
- Exposure to alcohol, paint, and occasionally fumes generated from injection molding machines and pad printing operation among others.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and material. Intensive handwork.
- Requires the ability to identify and distinguish colors and shapes.
- Requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Well-lighted, air-conditioned, indoor laboratory/production setting with adequate ventilation.

Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent. Working knowledge of quality system requirements. Must have completed training for assigned work area. A minimum of 1 year of experience is preferred.
