Facilities/Equipment Maintenance and Safety Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of all manufacturing equipment, building, and safety. In addition, is responsible for managing all EHS required compliance activities and identifying and reporting opportunities for Lean improvement efforts. Assist with executing, all Environmental Health and Safety activities for the site. The EHS Coordinator supports and performs activities necessary to maintain the facilities and grounds to support a safe and clean working environment that meet all Viant, OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ISO, and FDA regulations. Demonstrate and adhere to the Viant Values: Customer Oriented, Integrity, Servant Leadership, Own It, Be Agile and Team Work. Practices lean principals to maximize efficiency.
GENERAL/ADMINISTRATIVE:
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities with organization’s policies, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Directs and coordinates activities of maintenance technicians engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, equipment, and the maintenance of buildings, grounds, safety, and utility systems.
- Facilitates weekly department communication meetings with the maintenance team.
- Initiates, establishes and maintains effective work relationships with all departments.
- Adheres to FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO 13485:2016 quality system standards
- Initiates Discrepancy Reports, and Equipment Identification Documents as necessary.
- Manage and administer Preventive Maintenace and Calibration Program for the site.
- Prepares Capital Expenditure Requests as necessary.
FACILITIES/EQUIPMENT/MAINTENANCE:
- Ensures that high standards of safety are developed, met, and maintained for all equipment installed in the facility.
- Direct hourly maintenance associates in their roles and responsibilities to meet plant objectives in safety, quality, cost, customer service and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Designs and implements preventative maintenance program to help ensure that all machinery and building systems remain in good operating condition
- Analyzes and ensures accuracy of tooling and preventive maintenance, diagnose tooling or equipment problems, expediting repairs.
- Responsible for the repair of equipment failure and ensures full useful life of equipment in coordination with preventive maintenance program.
- Coordinates new equipment installations with project managers, assists in validations as necessary.
- Reviews maintenance work orders to determine work priorities and maintains the Preventative Maintenance System in compliance with the Quality System.
- Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities. Plans and implements corrective actions for targets that are not met.
- Plans and directs new equipment installation. Coordinate equipment validation and re-validation activities
- Coordinates activities of contractors, and maintenance technicians to efficiently complete projects.
- Reviews invoices from contractors for accuracy and coordinates requisition for payment.
- Manages maintenance department costs within budgetary guidelines. Initiates purchases of necessary equipment, parts or materials and then arranges for the workforce to execute project plans.
- Collaborates with department Engineers to provide input on equipment needs and requirements for the manufacturing of products.
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and implementations of total productive maintenance programs/systems.
- Responds quickly to emergency situations and customer concerns.
- Assists with on-site inspections and audits.
SAFETY:
- Chairs the Safety Team. Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention and employee involvement in regard to safe work environment.
- Conducts On-Boarding new hire oreintation and training for all EHS activities and compliance.
- Investigates accidents, root cause analysis, development of corrective and preventative actions, and evaluation of their effectiveness. Addresses any workplace-related health issues and accidents.
- Maintains OSHA 300 logs. Facilitate annual OSHA required training.
- Manages the Preventable Safety Observation program to include coordinating and tracking progress. Investigates employees reports of hazards and responds to employee safety and health suggestions.
- Keeps management advised of all significant safety and health developments, including the status and results of hazard evaluations, inspections, and accident investigations, and any serious problems or deficiencies in the overall safety and health program. (Accident and PSO forms)
- Manages the First Responder Program to include ensuring mandatory training.
- Reviews and modifies written reports and standard operating procedures for all EHS.
- Inspects working conditions to ensure all products and activities are compliant with safety guidelines.
- Oversees use of dangerous chemicals and machinery.
- Orders Personal Protective Equipment and supplies for the workplace.
- Runs emergency drills to gauge employee readiness. Assists with EAP and fire evacuation and disaster response.
- Consults with the Senior Leadership Team regarding the implementation of new safety procedures.
- Assists with on-site inspections and audits from third parties
- Assists in updating and maintaining as-built drawings and fire escape routes.
KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations.
- Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating etc.).
- Understanding of budgeting and performance management.
- Knowledgeable of Preventative Maintenance Software, Microsoft Office
JOB EXPERIENCE:
- 6+ years of previous supervisory experience.
- 5+ years of safety, federal regulatory compliance experience.
- 5+ years of practical experience in electrical, mechanical, electronic, hydraulic and general plant maintenance required.
- Previous experience in manufacturing with a preference in medical devices or other regulated environment desired.
- Previous hands-on maintenance background essential.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Decision-making with inherent ability to command, consult, gain consensus, and effective execution
- Good problem solving skills with proven track record in achieving results through or with other team members.
- Preferred PLC I programming skills.
- Analytical skills to aid in the interpretation of data and subsequent planning.
- Excellent organizational skills and detailed oriented.
- Ability to evaluate plant projects for maintenance needs and outside contracting services and the quoting and justification process.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, mentoring, and communication skills required to effectively disseminate and present information to all internal and external customers, and to effectively interact with all organizational levels.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Light physical activity performing non-strenuous, day-to-day activities of a primarily administrative nature.
- Moderate lifting (20 lbs), carrying (10 lbs), bending, squatting, and prolonged sitting.
- Requires the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
