Share your passion and knowledge of skiing and snowboarding with guests of all ages at Cooper Spur and Mt Hood Meadows. Join the Meadows Learning Center Instructor Team known for being the “Best in the West” in delivering the ultimate on-snow experience.
As a part-time PSIA-AASI Certified or experienced instructor in our ski/snowboard school, you'll be teaching skiing and snowboarding to groups and individuals of all ages and abilities from group lessons, to private lessons and potentially Adaptive lessons with our in-house Adaptive program.
Our “Learning Terrain Areas” have sculpted features to enhance the fun and learning experience with rollers, banked turns, an ideal slope all located in controlled areas devoted to those just learning to ski or snowboard - come be part of teaching innovation!
Our season typically starts Thanksgiving weekend and runs through April with night operations starting in mid-December through the first weekend in March.
Experienced Instructor Checklist:
- 16 years of age or older
- Minimum of one full season teaching for a PSIA-AASI member school
- Strong communications and guest service skills
- Minimum skills required: ability to link controlled turns on blue groomed terrain
- Ability to work outside in all winter weather conditions for extended periods of time
- Ability to commit to working a minimum of 18 shifts during the season primarily on weekends and holidays
- Must be comfortable with the changing dynamics of a seasonal business
- Employment in this position is subject to a satisfactory background check for 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Current or past PSIA-AASI Certification or foreign equivalent
- PSIA-AASI Level I certification or greater
- PSIA-AASI Children’s Specialist 1 Credential or greater
Other Considerations:
- Average teaching wages meet or exceed NSAA national data and are based on PSIA-AASI Certifications and Accreditations
- PSIA-AASI Level I training provided by in-house trainers
- PSIA-AASI Level I Exam fees paid for exams administered in-house
- PSIA-AASI Level II/III Certification training provided by PSIA-NW DCLs and Examiners who are also staff trainers at Mt. Hood Meadows
- Scholarship program to support professional development for PSIA-AASI certifications and accreditations
