Intern
McNaughton-McKay is a leading wholesale electrical distributor and solutions provider of electrical, automation, and renewable energy products for industrial, commercial, and residential markets.
This industry is providing exciting opportunities for growth and participation in reshaping how the world consumes and utilizes power. Efforts to modernize infrastructure are resulting in large projects for semiconductors, EV manufacturing, mining, and battery production. Energy transition and a desired shift to green energy have led to emerging markets in solar, wind, energy storage, and Microgrids. It's an exciting time to be in the industry!
Projects we have participated in include:
- Solar Panel block “O” on top of the OSU field house.
- Eaton County rooftop, carports, and field array PV installation.
- Pioneer Highschool rooftop PV installation.
- Numerous EV charging projects for Level 2 and Level 3 fast charging.
The Intern will support the internal and external sales teams with product research, customer quotes, project bids, and interaction with manufacturers to provide either Solar or EV solutions to McNaughton-McKay customers. The Renewable Group acts as the primary contact for residential and commercial solar & EV systems, design specifications, installation practices, and project management for manufacturer and contractor customers.
Internship would include:
- Gaining experience and understanding of the renewable industry, including products, processes, customers, specifications, and overall project management.
- Opportunities to meet with customers and visit various job sites.
- Day to day cross-functional engagement with sales, engineering, operations and other departments and leadership.
- Supporting current and future projects at various phases of the project management life cycle that may include:
- Customer focused design build projects (AutoCAD, quoting, specifications, product recommendations, etc.)
We are currently hiring for the fall schedule, running through December 2024. Applicants must be able to work a full time schedule (at least 30 hours/week) through the designated timeframe.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities to be successful include:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Engineering, Environmentally Sciences, Sustainability or a similarly related technical field of study (open to Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior students)
- Previous internship experience preferred, but not required.
- Project management experience via school or internship preferred, but not required.
- Sales interest preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of - and proficiency in - Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong communication and presentations skills
We will also consider continuing internships throughout the following year (on a part-time schedule) if individual student schedules and coursework can be maintained while working during the semester.
