SUMMARY

This position collaborates with team members to plan, design, review, bid, and oversee the construction of public infrastructure projects, including roadways, stormwater systems, water distribution, and wastewater collection. Additionally, this role involves reviewing private development plans for compliance with municipal standards, regulations, and long-term infrastructure goals.

 

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers and municipal clients to ensure projects meet regulatory requirements, budget constraints, and expectations. This role requires strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design site plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including conceptual grading and site layouts
  • Conduct due diligence and site analysis, including cost estimates, utility computations, stormwater reports, and earthwork analysis
  • Assist in producing final construction drawings
  • Analyze applicable codes, standards, and specifications to ensure compliance
  • Prepare permit applications for applicable municipal agencies
  • Develop contract documents and specifications for bidding
  • Check local requirements and ordinances for project compliance
  • Visit project sites to inspect contractor performance and verify compliance with contract documents
  • Assist with problem resolution, analyzing and presenting alternative solutions
  • Maintain job site records, including daily reports, meeting minutes, approved submittals, and pay requests
  • Track time, equipment, and material changes for potential contract adjustments
  • Measure quantities for progress payments and verify work acceptance per contract specifications
  • Perform pay item calculations and prepare inspection checklists
  • Prepare Inspector’s Daily Reports (IDRs) and Daily Construction Reports (DCRs)
  • Take daily progress photos and collect material delivery tickets
  • Inspect materials for compliance with contract documents, schedules, and field orders
  • Address resident complaints and concerns
  • Assist with client communication related to specific projects
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
  • Participate in business development efforts as requested

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES 

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with a variety of people
  • Adaptability and the ability to respond quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be fluent in the English language (written and spoken)
  • Availability to work nights and weekends as necessary

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 0–5 years of related experience (municipal project field experience preferred)

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) license preferred or in the process of obtaining
  • Valid driver’s license required
