Land Planning Internship

Job Summary:

• As an intern, you will perform a variety of land planning tasks, supporting the planning and landscape architecture team.  You will assist with technical tasks including, but not limited to: ordinance research, base drawing preparation, product research, conceptual site layout, site plan development, and entitlement support.  You may also be asked to assist the engineering teams or landscape architecture teams for various tasks and office assistance. 

Accountability and Duties: 

• Assists with research of ordinances and other due diligence tasks.  
• Assists in production of land planning drawings and documents.  
• Ensures timesheets are submitted on time.  
• Maintains a good relationship with staff.  
• Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. 

Education and/or Experience:

• Must be in process of completing a BS/BA degree from an accredited university in the fields of Planning, Urban Planning, or Landscape Architecture.  

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Valid driver’s license 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent oral and technical written communication skills.
• Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Available to work nights and weekends to complete a project as necessary.
• Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework.
• Knowledge of industry related software.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office products. 
• Knowledge of Adobe products and Sketchup preferred.
• Must be fluent in the English language.

Physical Demand:

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
