Memorial Community Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Surgery RN to join our interdisciplinary team. The Surgery RN is responsible for providing comprehensive perioperative care, coordinating patient support, and performing nursing functions as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act. This role involves working with patients across all age groups, from newborns to the elderly, and adapting to a flexible department schedule to meet patient care needs.

Job Summary:
- Shift Details: Monday-Friday, plus call rotation.
- Perform admission assessments, develop care plans, and complete informed consent in the preoperative setting.
- Utilize SBAR communication during patient handoff and adhere to Surgical Care Improvement Project measures.
- Assess patient and family learning needs preoperatively and ensure understanding of procedures, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
- Provide care for patients of all ages and follow appropriate procedures for changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications in line with the six rights of medication administration, adhering to narcotic control procedures.
- Advocate for patient safety in the operating room by maintaining aseptic and sterile techniques.
- Anticipate intraoperative needs of the provider and team, assist anesthesia, and participate in OR turnover.
- Provide care in the post-anesthesia care unit, completing comprehensive patient assessments through discharge.
- Demonstrate flexibility in completing both scheduled and emergent procedures, taking an equal share of on-call duties.
- Maintain open communication with the RN Manager and contribute to the hospital's mission, vision, and values.
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current RN licensure in the state of Nebraska or Iowa
- Current BLS certification (required)
- ACLS certification (required within 60 days of hire)
- PALS certification (required within 90 days of hire)
- NRP certification (required within 6 months of hire)
- Preferred: 2 years of Operating Room experience
