Position: Consumer Finance Internal Auditor
Supervisory Responsibility: Internal Auditors
In This Role, You Will…
Be responsible for conducting internal compliance audits of all Mariner Finance branches and/or HQ departments. This position works independently to collect, investigate, and test information gathered from employees and loan files at the assigned department/branch.
Responsibilities:
- Schedules annual compliance audits and monitors completeness throughout the year.
- Performs tests of transactions and other basic audit procedures using appropriate documentation standards.
- Prepares memorandums for senior management summarizing work performed and personnel findings.
- Develops effective communication with employees in operating areas (to include providing feedback and recommendations to branch operations).
- Provides recommendations to senior management to improve compliance with internal controls.
- Participates in projects to enhance internal control and regulatory compliance.
- Performs follow-up audits for unsatisfactory reviews.
- Participates in other projects as assigned (these could include but are not limited to conducting due diligence on potential acquisitions and reporting findings to CEO).
- Conducts confidential integrity interviews with all staff during compliance audits.
- May perform additional functions depending on market demand and staffing in order to provide consistent quality customer service.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business.
- Knowledge of lending, collections, and fair practice and ethics in consumer finance.
- Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently.
- Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to travel up to 60% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related field; previous banking or finance company experience.
- Knowledge of internal company policy.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
