Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the HRHC Program Supervisor, the Enough is Enough (EIE) Advocate is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of presentations, outreach, and training related to domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking through the Enough Is Enough legislation. The EIE Advocate performs functions relevant to advocating for and providing direct services to survivors and their families in accordance with the HRHC program. The EIE Advocate provides services in a manner which is culturally competent and empowers survivors by using their l strengths and informal support networks in service delivery.
Essential Job Functions
Hotline
- Shares on-call responsibilities; takes corrective action to provide crisis coverage, ensure HRHC hotline coverage requirements, incident notification, and debriefing. Responds to and effectively handles emergencies, which may require flexibility of both time and areas of assignment.
Enough is Enough (EIE)
- Coordinates and implements activities in accordance with the Enough Is Enough Program funding.
- Responsible for the development of curriculum and other training materials for community and campus education and prevention presentations.
- The position is co-located at Help Restore Hope Center in Oneida, Colgate University in Hamilton and SUNY Morrisville in Morrisville.
- Advises/consults with Madison County universities and colleges regarding their policies to provide advisement about domestic violence and sexual assault survivor-informed policy implementation.
- Assures the high standards and continuity of services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
Reporting and Documentation
- Completes, maintains and updates all necessary written reports, case files, and summaries in a timely manner and in accordance with program and agency standards.
Domestic Violence Education
- Provides educational and support intervention to clients, including crisis intervention, safety assessment and planning, and referral and linkage to other services as needed.
- Responsible for providing community education, prevention, and awareness of issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking at outreach/tabling events coordinated with the Assistant Supervisor and/or the Program Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates in service planning, implementation of program goals and in carrying out the activities of the program.
- Functions as a member of the HRHC team. Participates in service planning, implementation of program goals and in carrying out the activities of the program.
- Carries a client caseload by providing services to survivors and their families as needed. Serves as an Advocate and primary resource person for survivors when necessary.
- Advocates on behalf of survivors with the court system, law enforcement organizations, medical community, and the community at large.
- Assures the high standards and continuity of services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. Participates in service planning and in carrying out the activities of the program.
- Maintains effective professional relationships with other service providers and community organizations in the interest of clients’ and program goals.
- Carries out Agency policies and procedures.
- Attends and participates in individual supervisory conferences, staff meetings, training sessions and professional development opportunities as required.
- Makes use of personal vehicle for program transportation as required. Coordinates transportation to ensure client needs are met.
- Handles emergencies, which may require flexibility of time and area of assignment.
- Performs other duties, responsibilities, and related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
HS Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience with a domestic violence program, community based human services or related field required. Life experience may be substituted for formal work experience. Must have a valid New York State driver’s license and access to reliable transportation. Criminal history clearance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Is sensitive to cultural differences and able to incorporate that understanding into service provision. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Effective oral, written, and public speaking communication skills, able to communicate in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to work independently and with flexibility in days and hours of work. Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment and an understanding of domestic violence and sexual assault issues.
EIE Advocate is required to complete an initial 30-hour Rape Crisis Certification training. Additionally, the EIE Advocate is required to complete 10 hours of continuing education credits annually specific to service provisions for survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence.
Salary
Firm: $37,086.40 Annual ($17.83/Hourly)
