What You’ll Do
The Building Envelope Intern will lead the Roof Survey project across our existing buildings in New York City. This role involves both fieldwork and office-based tasks. In the field, you’ll visit sites to document roof conditions and visible damage. In the office, you’ll prepare detailed roof reports, organize findings into an Excel chart, and coordinate with property managers to schedule roof access and gather critical roof-related information.
L+M offers a comprehensive intern program. During the ten-week program, interns will gain exposure to the industry, tour several jobsites, and make a presentation on lessons learned to senior management. Specific duties will vary depending on the team but include tasks similar to these:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage your schedule for site visits, coordinating access with property management teams.
- Visit existing communities to measure, analyze and document roofs & facades.
- Gather relevant information and roof warranties from the property management team regarding each roof.
- Prepare Roof Surveys and create Chart documenting roof conditions throughout our portfolio.
Who We Want
- This is an entry level internship into the discipline of Building Envelopes and Waterproofing. We are looking for an individual with an eagerness to learn and an enthusiasm for detail.
- Undergraduate or Graduate student studying Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.
- Interests in Forensic Architecture, Building Envelopes and Construction are recommended.
- Comfortable working at heights, and climbing ladders, as this is an essential part of the role.
