HUD Compliance Specialist 2 (Residential Compliance)

Areas of Responsibility and Job Requirements
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for a Mitchell Lama, Section 8 PBV and the Public Housing Authority’s (PHA) regulations as it pertains to leasing, tracking, and reporting.
The ideal candidate will be an independent worker, take initiative, detail-oriented, a good multi-tasker, have good customer service skills, great communication skills both verbal and written and maintain a professional demeanor.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prequalify income & screening of applicants for unit vacancies.
- Submit applicant documentation to monitoring agency and subsidy agency to qualify applicants.
- Maintain property waiting list and transfer list.
- Track and maintain all transfer inquiries and work with PHA on processing requests.
- Ensure appropriate leases are signed by residents.
- Submit leases and income affidavits online to PHA in a timely manner.
- Complete and submit monthly reporting required by senior management and the PHA.
- Handle the collection of rent payments and security deposits.
- Assist residents with annual and interim recertification requests to PHA.
- Performs additional duties as assigned/needed
Minimum Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree, preferred
Minimum Years of Experience Required:
- 2-3+ years’ experience in affordable housing with recertification experience or affordable multi-family leasing or compliance.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Mitchell Lama and Section 8 Project Based Voucher (PBV)
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus (ability to read, write, and speak)
- Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office MS Excel, required
- Proficiency in Yardi Affordable, required
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be a self-starting, organized individual and possess the ability to perform in a busy, changing, multi-tasking work environment.
Competencies/Essential Job Functions:
This position consists mainly of sedentary work. The position may require exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The role involves sitting most of the time.
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: viewing a computer; extensive reading and visual inspection involving small defects. The incumbent is also required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
- This role frequently requires incumbent to talk and hear, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken work and the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make distinctions in sound.
- This role occasionally requires incumbent to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawling, reach, stand for long periods of time, walk, push, pull, feel and touch objects with fingers, palm, and hands and to lift up to 10 pounds.
Work Environment
The incumbent may occasionally be subject to environmental conditions (protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
The incumbent may occasionally be subject to noise sufficient to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the noise or vibration.
